RA Selection Process
The RA selection process involves a formal application, attendance at an RA information session, and individual interview.
The RA Application is opens in ResLife Online on October 22 and is due by 4:30 p.m. on November 6.
Group interviews will take place the week of November 5. Candidates will only participate in one interview session and availability is collected during the RA Application in ResLife Online.
Individual interviews will be conducted the week of November 12. Candidates will select a 30 minute interview appointment during the RA Application in ResLife Online.
RA selection notification letters will be emailed to all students who participated in the process by 4:30 p.m. on November 30.
New RA Candidates
The RA application includes general, academic, and involvement related information. Applicants are also asked to provide contact information (name and email address) for two references and a thoughtful written response for two short answer questions.
References must be a person who can speak about a candidate's character and quality of work. Suitable references include but are not limited to a coach, professor, supervisor or club advisor. References will be contacted via email to complete an online reference form. Potential references are more responsive to these requests if a candidate asks for permission in advance.
Each candidate must participate in an individual interview. The purpose of the individual interview is to give candidates an opportunity to talk about their leadership, work experience, relevant skills and strengths. Attire for this interview should be professional/business casual.
Each candidate must participate in group interview. The purpose of the group interview is to give the candidates an opportunity to work in small groups to complete structured interactive activities with other candidates. Teamwork and decision-making will be the focus of these structured activities. Attire for this interview is St. John Fisher College themed (any College gear or clothing). Candidates will be participating in various activities and should be comfortable moving around.
Hiring and Placement
Candidates will be evaluated based on their application materials, participation in the RA selection process, and compatibility with ResLife's mission and goals. Decisions regarding hiring and placement are also based on the current needs of the residential community.
