11/16/2016 - A trio of St. John Fisher College faculty members attended the Council on Undergraduate Research Initiating and Sustaining Undergraduate Research Programs institute in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, held Oct. 27-29.

Two at Fisher Named Dante Scholarship Award Recipients Giuliana Pietrantoni and Lisa Manioci were named recipients of the Italian Women’s Civic Club Dante Scholarship Award.

11/10/2016 - Two St. John Fisher College students—Giuliana Pietrantoni and Lisa Manioci—were named recipients of the Italian Women’s Civic Club (IWCC) Dante Scholarship Award. Pietrantoni and Manioci were among five local college students to receive the award, which recognizes academic achievement and promote pride in the Italian American heritage. The students were formally honored during an awards dinner held earlier this month.

Wegmans School of Nursing Simulation Center Given Prestigious PACE Award by Laerdal Medical The Wegmans School of Nursing was given the PACE Award.

10/28/2016 - The Wegmans School of Nursing at St. John Fisher College was recently honored with the Pinnacle Award for Collaboration in Education (PACE); given by Laerdal Medical, a leading provider of medical training products and medical equipment. The School is one of only two nursing education organizations to have ever received the award, which recognizes programs or initiatives that have exhibited consistent excellence in educational philosophy for the purpose of helping to save lives.

10/06/2016 - Dr. Laura Markwick, an assistant professor in the Wegmans School of Nursing, was recently featured on Fox Rochester for being named the 2016 New York State Nurse Practitioner of the Year. She spoke with anchors Jennifer Johnson and Norma Holland about the award, and the work she does in the Wegmans School of Nursing and in the community.

Smith Presents, Publishes on Nursing Leadership, Professional Development Charlene Smith

10/06/2016 - Dr. Charlene Smith, professor and chair of the undergraduate nursing program in the Wegmans School of Nursing, co-edited and co-authored the recently published textbook “Leadership in Nursing Professional Development: An Organizational and System Focus.” She also co-wrote a paper with Dr. Karen Parker, assistant professor at the School, and two additional colleagues that was published in the Journal for Nurses in Professional Development.

Markwick Named New York State Nurse Practitioner of the Year Laura Markwick

09/29/2016 - Dr. Laura Markwick, an assistant professor in the Wegmans School of Nursing, was given the Nurse Practitioner Association’s (NPA) 2016 New York State Nurse Practitioner of the Year Award. Markwick was honored as a part of the association's annual conference, held the weekend of Friday, Sept. 30 through Sunday, Oct. 2.
