11/09/2015 - St. John Fisher College celebrated the opening of its new Integrated Science and Health Sciences Building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The 31,000 square foot academic facility includes two 100-seat classrooms, teaching laboratories, a lab prep room, faculty offices, and breakout spaces for student collaboration.

Nursing Students Spend Summer in Internships Learning Patient Care and More Nursing Student Interns

10/01/2015 - For eight weeks during her summer vacation, Emily Donner ’16 spent 12 hours each night shadowing a nurse on the general medical/surgical floor of South Buffalo Mercy Hospital. Her overnight shift entailed dispensing medication, changing dressings, and assessing patient care, all under the close supervision of a nurse.

09/24/2015 - St. John Fisher College graduate students from three healthcare disciplines will receive interprofessional training in how to best work with patients who require substance abuse screenings, interventions, and referrals to treatment, thanks to a $867,000 grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).

Cooney Miner Named Honorary Fellow by Royal College of Surgeons Ireland Dr. Dianne Cooney Miner

08/04/2015 - Dr. Dianne Cooney Miner, dean of St. John Fisher College’s Wegmans School of Nursing, was recently named an Honorary Faculty Fellow of Nursing & Midwifery by the Royal College of Surgeons, in Dublin, Ireland. The highest honor the faculty can bestow upon an individual, the fellowship recognizes outstanding service to the nursing/midwifery profession and significant humanitarian work. A ceremony officially conferring her admittance into the fellowship is scheduled for Wednesday, March 2, 2016.
