Media and Communication
Communication professionals—journalists, filmmakers, designers—are in the business of telling stories. Join their ranks by enrolling in Fisher’s media and communication program, where you will learn to write effectively and communicate visually.
The media and communication major offers you the opportunity to work with faculty in small seminar and lab classes, engage in faculty research, and be mentored into the media professions. The program also affords you participation in internships, service-learning initiatives, and networking opportunities.
Class sizes within the program generally range from 10 to 30 students.
Media and communication classes emphasize professional writing competency and technical proficiency, the latter in either video production or design. Through the program's curriculum you will put your analytical and critical skills to the test as well.
The program emphasizes experiential learning, or "learning by doing." In this major, you should expect to present your work in a variety of formats, including oral presentations, social media postings, and video essays. You also will develop a professional portfolio, which will be reviewed by media professionals prior to graduation.
In keeping with the highly interdisciplinary nature of a Fisher education, the media and communication major requires a minor taken in another department or program.
