Grant Expands Nursing Students’ Efforts to Teach Asthma Education to RCSD Students Logo for the American Lung Association's Open Airways for Schools Program.

05/10/2018 - Approximately 20 percent of students who attend the Rochester City School District (RCSD) have been diagnosed with asthma. Now, thanks to a grant from Excellus BlueCross BlueShield, the Wegmans School of Nursing at St. John Fisher College will have a greater opportunity to help those students manage their disease through an expansion of the American Lung Association’s (ALA) Open Airways for Schools educational program.

Advocacy Day Takes Pharmacy Students to Albany More than 80 pharmacy students, joined by three post-graduate students, four professors, and five members of the Pharmacy Society of Rochester spent the day meeting with Assembly Members and Senators, providing advocacy aimed at advancing public health.

10/31/2017 - The St. John Fisher College Wegmans School of Nursing will enhance its existing programs for mental health counselors and psychiatric nurse practitioners to include an emphasis upon strategies for delivering integrated behavioral and physical health care, especially to underserved and vulnerable populations.

08/07/2017 - Faculty and administrators in the Executive Leadership program, housed in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education at St. John Fisher College, implemented an initiative this year to support leadership in Rochester charter schools. Charter school leaders have been meeting regularly to share ideas and information, thanks to a grant sponsored by the Max and Marian Farash Charitable Foundation and the ESL Charitable Foundation.

03/30/2017 - Two faculty members at St. John Fisher College received a $100,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), which will fund a project aimed at generating discussions of duty, patriotism, and loyalty among Rochester-based veterans through the exploration of World War I and the Afghanistan/Iraq counter-insurgencies.
