iFisher Student Information
The iFisher Next Generation Learning Initiative provides all on-campus undergraduate students and Pharmacy P1 students with an iPad, keyboard case, and Apple Pencil.
Incoming students receive their iPad prior to the start of their first semester. First-year students receive their iPad at Great Beginnings. Transfer students receive their iPad at the transfer orientation. Students may contact the OIT Service Desk for available times to pick up their iPad.
This initiative is part of Fisher’s commitment to providing you with transformative experiences designed to help you achieve your educational and career goals.
The iPad bundle you will receive includes an Apple iPad 9th generation with 256 GB of storage, an Apple Pencil (1st generation), and a keyboard case.
Your iPad comes with popular applications like iMovie, Garage Band, Clips, and Photo Booth as well as academic programs including Google Suite, Microsoft Office, Zoom, and more.
You can install apps of your choosing on the device. “Jailbreaking” or interfering with your iPad operating system is prohibited and would result in additional fees and possible academic discipline.
Ownership and Responsibilities
Your Fisher-provided iPad bundle is owned by Fisher while you are a student at the College. However, you are encouraged to use it for both academic and personal use. Upon graduation, ownership of the device will be transferred to you.
While you may own another iPad or tablet, we recommend that all students use the Fisher-provided iPad as the iPad you get from Fisher is different than any of your personally-owned devices. The Fisher iPad includes additional security and a suite of apps made available to you free of charge as a Fisher student.
If your iPad is lost, please contact the Office of Safety & Security and the Office of Information Technology as soon as possible. OIT may be able to help you locate a lost device. If the iPad is stolen, you should also contact the local police to file an official report.
Fisher iPad bundles include Apple Care+. This provides two claims per year that can be repaired at no additional cost. This includes damage to the iPad, Apple Pencil, or charging accessories. If your equipment is damaged, you should contact the OIT Service Desk immediately. Once you have exceeded the coverage provided under Apple Care+, you will be responsible for the cost of repairing your device.
The Office of Information Technology provides support on the hardware and software you will receive. You can stop by, call (585) 385-8016, or email email@example.com with questions anytime.

When will I get my iPad?
Incoming students will receive their iPad prior to the start of their first semester. First-year students receive their iPad at Great Beginnings. Transfer students receive their iPad at the transfer orientation. If you’re unable to attend the appropriate date, you can contact the OIT Service Desk for alternative times to pick up your iPad.
I’m a part-time student, how and when do I get my iPad?

What if I already have my own iPad?
While we don’t recommend using a personal iPad instead of a Fisher-provided one, you certainly can use your personal iPad if you choose. You will be responsible for any warranty repairs and be expected to have your iPad during all of your classes. you will also be responsible to purchase any software Fisher provides or will provide while you’re a student. Currently, Notability is the only paid app you will need to purchase and install; however, more may be added in the future. You should also purchase an Apple Pencil and keyboard case to have the same functionality as the Fisher-provided iPad kits.
Is it necessary for me to have an iPad?
Yes, the iPad will be necessary. Many instructors use them in the classroom and plan classroom activities around their functionality. There are a number of things that the iPad can do that a laptop will not be able to do. Your iPad can be used for eBooks and other electronic resources, taking notes, and a number of other activities. Because it’s small, has a keyboard, and an Apple Pencil, it is a really versatile device to carry with you when you attend class.
What if I want to buy a different case?
Using a different case other than the provided case may present challenges if your iPad breaks or has any issues. The case that comes with your iPad is durable and should ensure that your iPad is safe.
What happens if my iPad breaks or if I have any issues?
If you have any issues with your iPad, go directly to the iCardinal office in Lavery Library or the OIT Service Desk in Kearney. They will be able to determine whether the issue will be covered by Apple Care and direct you regarding next steps.
What if my iPad is lost or stolen?
