Dr. Kiss's program of research focuses on medical device related pressure ulcers, and care of patients with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Her research has found that the presence of medical devices increases the risk of skin breakdown and pressure ulcers. Use of a combined risk prediction tool and clinical guideline for medical device related hospital acquired pressure users has helped to inform and optimize prevention and treatment.

She has also been focusing her research on nursing education surrounding care of patients with intellectual or developmental disabilities.

Dr. Kiss has presented regionally, nationally, and internationally and consulted on topics related to pediatric wound and device care at Strong Memorial Hospital.
