Within home care, she has been an on-call RN, supervising RN, director of clinical services and an executive director of a home health care agency. Currently, Dr. Dever teaches Population and Community Health in both the undergraduate and online nursing programs.

Dr. Dever is also the executive director for the Academy for Leadership in Long-Term Care, which is a professional collaboration between St. John Fisher College and five long-term care facilities (St. John's Home, Episcopal Senior Life Communities, St. Ann's Community, Jewish Senior Life, and The Friendly Home). The Academy provides educational support and training for nurses and ancillary staff in long-term care, assisted living, and home care settings. Currently the Academy receives Department of Labor grant funding to support TeamSTEPPS training within long-term care facilities.
