Bill Waddell is a specialist in 20th- and 21st-century poetry who has written about Robert Frost, Adrienne Rich, Robert Lowell, Seamus Heaney, and Claudia Rankine, among others. Yet he classifies himself as "an 'old school' generalist, whose perennially cluttered desk could have just about anything sitting on it." Devoted to literature; to the work of the human imagination, in arts from punk rock to painting; and to talking about it all, Dr. Waddell is committed to guiding students toward taking their own minds seriously.
