A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols is the Christmas Eve service held in King's College Chapel at the University of Cambridge (our College's namesake, St. John Fisher, served as chancellor of the University from 1504-1514). The Festival was introduced in 1918 by Eric Milner-White, dean of King's College, to bring a more imaginative approach to worship. It was first broadcast on radio in 1928 and is now broadcast via radio and television to millions of people around the world.
On Sunday, Dec. 8, Fisher's All-College Choir, under the direction of Sarah Mancini-Goebert, will present Advent Lessons and Carols. The service includes carols and readings from the Bible with accompanying celebrational hymns. The All-College Choir is comprised of students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.
The program is free and open to the public. All are welcome.
