Arien Rozelle, assistant professor of media and communication, will discuss the use of social media in mass communication. She will be joined by Fisher student experts.
As founder of FeelingAnxious, a boutique firm that specialized in music public relations, Rozelle landed clients in the New York Times, Huffington Post, and Relic Magazine. Her work earning clients sustained media coverage earned her a spot as one of “New York's Top PR Firms and People: The Most Influential and Connected” by marketing company Sparkah.com.
And in 2013, Rozelle brought her media savvy and PR know-how to St. John Fisher College, where she had turned up the dial on its social media and public relations courses.
As an advisor for The PRIMA Group, a student-run, full-service advertising agency; and the Tom Prioetti Chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, she has renewed student engagement in both student organizations. Creating innovative programming that introduces Rochester professionals to students through Meet the Media, Social Media Week, and agency crawls, Rozelle is shaping the next generation of communicators. Three years ago, she formed the College's first team to participate in PRSSA's Bateman Case Study Competition, and to date, all three teams have earned honorable mentions.
This year, Rozelle was instrumental in shaping the College's newest graduate program, the Master of Science in Strategic Communication, helping take the Department to the next level.
Outside of Fisher, she works as a freelance practitioner with clients including Black Button Distillery, and has served as a panelist for local, regional, and national conferences, including Upstate Social. In 2018, she was selected as a fellow for the Lillian Lodge Kopenhaver Center for the Advancement of Women in Communication, traveling to Florida International University to participate in a workshop for tenure-track women.
Optional Mass at 9 a.m. in the Hermance Family Chapel of St. Basil the Great, followed by breakfast treats in Cleary Family Auditorium in Kearney Hall.
