Fisher to Host Entrepreneurship Week 2024 in April

Entrepreneurship Week at St. John Fisher University will feature a range of events, competitions, and opportunities tailored to support budding entrepreneurs. The event will kick off on Monday, April 1, and draw to a close on Friday, April 5 under the guidance of Fisher’s Entrepreneur-in-Residence, Dr. Chantz Miles, Rebecca Pelino Entrepreneur-in-Residence and Visiting Assistant Professor at the School of Business.

“Entrepreneurship Week 2024 embodies more than a series of events; it symbolizes our University’s dedication to fostering innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurial triumphs across all fields,” said Miles. “We take pride in championing and commemorating our students’ entrepreneurial endeavors, eagerly anticipating the exceptional concepts they will unveil.”

The week’s agenda includes a Business Plan and Business Model Canvas Workshop on Monday, April 1, at 5:30 p.m. in Golisano Gateway Midlevel. Students will have the opportunity to refine existing business ideas or develop new plans with the help of Miles.

On Tuesday, April 2, Fisher will host the New York Business Plan Competition at 5:30 p.m. in Cleary Family Auditorium at Kearney Hall. This competition provides Fisher students a platform to compete against peers from neighboring colleges and universities. The winning student with the most compelling business plan will be awarded a prize of $25,000.

The Fish Tank Pitch Competition is scheduled for Wednesday, April 3 at 5:30 p.m. in the James ’71 and Kathleen Leo Community Room at the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center. All Fisher students are welcome and encouraged to participate regardless of their field of study. An offer of $5,000 in cash prizes will be available to the students with the top ideas. This event will also offer networking opportunities, expert feedback, and complimentary refreshments for all attendees.

On Thursday, April 4, students can attend a Hackathon/Ideation session at 5:30 p.m. in Basil 208, where they can collaborate and innovate on entrepreneurial ventures with their peers.

A Small Business Owner Panel will conclude the week on Friday, April 5, at 10:30 a.m. in the Golisano Gateway Midlevel. The panel will provide students with insights from business owners sharing their entrepreneurial journeys and successful ventures.
