Division of Student Affairs & Diversity Initiatives

The Division of Student Affairs & Diversity Initiatives is a student-centered, collaborative partner with the Academic Affairs and is responsible for a variety of offices and programs which support the educational mission of the College and student life at Fisher. We focus on advocating for and addressing students’ needs at the College as well as fostering a greater sense of community.

Mission

The Division of Student Affairs & Diversity Initiatives at St. John Fisher College supports and challenges students to continue to mature through residential, social, and wellness services and programs. These programs and services help students learn who they are as individuals and community members, how to live within a community, how to respect the diversity they will experience in their lives, and how to maintain an appropriate quality of life. Our work is based on the understanding that all individuals mature according to a developmental path over the course of their lives. Through collaboration with our campus colleagues, our work complements the educational mission of the College and supports the Fisher Creed.

Student development is facilitated by challenging students to:

  1. Establish a “safe” climate, physically and emotionally, for student development on campus.
  2. Participate in and contribute to campus life, thereby building community.
  3. Pursue student leadership development opportunities.
  4. Prepare for lifelong learning and healthy decision-making.
  5. Develop the capacity to live and work in a multicultural environment.

The Division of Student Affairs & Diversity Initiatives includes Campus Life, Multicultural Affairs & Diversity Programs, Residential Life, Student Conduct, Wellness Center, and Mental Health Counseling.
