Rochester Fringe Festival Begins Sept. 12, Fisher Serves as Higher Education Sponsor

Beginning on Tuesday, Sept. 12 and running through Saturday, Sept. 23, the Rochester Fringe Festival promises to be another exciting place to watch the arts in action – with everything from musical performances and spoken word to comedy and art, and more. St. John Fisher University is once again serving as a higher education sponsor of the annual event, which brings more than 500 performances to more than 30 venues in downtown Rochester each September.

A total of 118 events and performances are free this year, and the festival expects to see tens of thousands of people attend exciting free performances from here in Rochester and around the world. Many of the free events will take place at Parcel 5 (near One East Avenue) and at the Spiegelgarden at One Fringe Place, at the corner of Main and Gibbs Streets across from the Eastman Theatre.

Festival venues include: Aerial Arts of Rochester, CenterStage Theatre at the JCC, Eastman School of Music, First Universalist Church, The Focus Theater, Garth Fagan Dance Studio, Genesee Valley Sports Complex, George Eastman Museum, Geva Theatre Center, The International Plaza, Java’s Café, Joseph Avenue Arts & Culture Alliance at Baden Street Gym, Kodak Hall at Eastman Theatre, The Little Theatre, MuCCC, RIT City Art Space, ROC City Circus, Rochester Contemporary Art Center, Rochester Museum and Science Center, Rochester Music Hall of Fame, School of the Arts, The Spirit Room, The Theatre at Innovation Square, and Writers & Books.

Tickets are available online or via phone at (585) 957-9837 (additional fees apply). They can also be purchased in person during the festival; at the door of the venue or at the One Fringe Place Box Office, corner of Main and Gibbs Streets.
