Quarantine Policy

Per recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the New York State Department of Health, students, faculty, and staff who have traveled to a country with a CDC level 3 travel advisory are required to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.

In addition, students or employees that have household members who are showing symptoms (cough, fever of 100.4 or higher, and shortness of breath) and that have either traveled to a high risk region or have been in contact with someone who tested positive, are required to self-quarantine at home for 14 days.

(Self-quarantine means: do not return to campus at any time; remain at home; do not attend class, work, or group gatherings; do not invite people over.)

Academic Accommodations

The College is working diligently to make academic accommodations for our returning study abroad students for the remainder of the semester.

If you travelled to a country with a level 3 travel advisory over break or as part of your study abroad program, contact your direct supervisor or the Center for Career and Academic Planning at (585) 385-8050 or ccap@sjfc.edu.

College-Sponsored and Supported Travel

Travel for College Business

In an abundance of caution, until further notice any College-sponsored or supported international travel is suspended indefinitely. This includes club or class trips and professional conferences.

Faculty and staff who have upcoming plans for domestic travel for College-sponsored or supported business should notify their supervisor or department chair who will work with the divisional vice president to determine if the travel should be canceled or proceed as planned.

Travel for Non-College Related or Personal Trips

Faculty and staff are encouraged to evaluate their personal travel in light of the CDC and State Department advisories.

Campus Policy on Communal Food During COVID-19 Alert Period

Until further notice, the College is adopting the following precautions when food is provided at any events and meetings. This policy applies to all foods and beverages that are paid for by the College regardless of vendor.

  • All catered events with more than 10 guests that do not consist of individually packaged/portioned items will require a catering attendant for serving.
  • Any food brought in from off-campus vendors must be individually wrapped.
  • "Bulk" food items may not be served at any campus event (ie. bowls of chips, scoop your own ice cream).
  • All "make your own" food events are canceled and can be rescheduled within the guidelines above (ie. stuff your own taco, decorate a cupcake).

We also recommend good health and safety practices such as providing hand sanitizer at events, wiping tables before and after with disinfecting wipes, and removing communal snacks from public areas unless they are individually wrapped.
