Orientation Information for Parents and Families

Orientation marks the start of your student's transition to St. John Fisher College.

Our orientation program is designed to help students discover what Fisher has to offer and connect with their peers.

What to Expect at Orientation

Resident Student Check-in and Move-in

8 a.m. to Noon

There is plenty for parents and families to do during Orientation, including checking out the College Store!

Check-in will begin in different parking lots on campus based on a student's residence hall assignment.

  • From the parking lots, you will be directed to individual residence halls.
  • The Orientation Team will be there to welcome you, and help you unpack your car and move in.
  • Students will need to check in at their individual residence hall to receive their room key and student ID.

10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

  • Health and Wellness Center (Wegmans School of Nursing, Suite 107)
  • Student Financial Services (Table in the Campus Center Atrium)
  • Center for Career and Academic Planning (Library 104)
  • Campus Mailroom (Haffey Hall, lower level)
  • College Bookstore (Campus Center, first floor)
  • Office of Information Technology (Kearney 053) 8:45 AM – 10:00 PM
  • Safety and Security (Haffey Hall, Lobby) Available 24/7

Commuter Student Check-in

11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

  • Attendance at Orientation is required for all incoming students. This includes commuters.
  • All commuters should park in Lot A and proceed to check-in at the Campus Center Information Desk.
  • At check in, commuter students will receive information on the location of their first Orientation meeting.
  • Commuter students are encouraged to join us for the Welcome Picnic prior to their first Orientation meeting.

Welcome Picnic

11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Parents, be sure to grab lunch and a treat before you leave campus!


12:30 p.m.

Please plan to say your goodbyes after the Welcome Picnic. The formal Orientation program for students only begins at 12:30 p.m. in the Varsity Gym and continues for the remainder of the weekend.
