The Center for Career and Academic Planning offers a number of events each semester including career fairs and etiquette lunches, as well as numerous workshops on topics such as resume writing, internships, using LinkedIn, and more.

First Responder and Caring Careers (Mentor in Residence)

Monday, January 28 | 1 - 3 p.m. | Library 220

Drop in for an informal conversation about what it takes to pursue and thrive in a career where you are the first responder and providing care in a crisis. Featuring a New York state police officer, a Rochester fire department captain, and an emergency room nurse. No appointment needed - just come with your curiosity! Ask about a typical day, what they like/don't about their work, how they'd advise you to be better prepared to enter this career, or whatever you want to know. This is a great chance to meet with a professional and build your network.

Federal Government Jobs Workshop

Tuesday, January 29 | 5 - 6 p.m. | Library 101

The federal government offers entry-level and paid internships for majors in all fields. The federal job search and application process is different from a private sector employer. Learn how to find these positions and apply. Please sign up in Handshake.

You know you need a resume, so CCAP is here to help! RESUMANIA is an all-day resume help event. Whether you are just starting your resume or need to get a thorough critique from industry professionals, use RESUMANIA to make it happen (and yes, we can look at cover letters and grad school essays, too). Options: 1) Sit down with CCAP staff for a "start your resume" conversation; 2) Drop off your resume and pick it up by 4:30 p.m. with written critique; 3) Walk in with your resume and work with a professional resume reviewer to get feedback; or 4) Upload your resume to Handshake for online feedback.

Do Good Careers/Nonprofits (Mentor in Residence)

Think a career doing good in the world might be right for you? Come to CCAP and talk with professionals who have built careers "doing good." Find out how your liberal arts education prepares you to make a difference. Mentors include executives from RESTORE/Planned Parenthood, Goodwill, and Greentopia (sustainability for Rochester). Bring your curiosity about how to thrive and succeed working for a nonprofit.

Our business operations mentors will talk with you about how to use your writing, technical, analytical, creative, communicative, and human-relationships skills in the business world. This event is just for graduating students. Sessions on resume development, interviewing, job search/networking, and adulting.
