Advice from Alumni
St. John Fisher College alumni are succeeding in a variety of careers as executives, business owners, and professionals. What advice do they have for today's Fisher students?
College is a time for exploration and discovery. Nicole Van Gorder '11 advises students to "take the experiences as they come, take opportunities, and don't be afraid to take those risks."
Get to Know Your Professors
According to Nichole Scheiner '00, "So many of the professors have great experiences in the workplace and it can really help put you in touch with what may be a good fit for you."
Faculty may also guide you in a direction you never thought possible.
"There's a lot of great stories of people who came to Fisher thinking they wanted to do one thing, but along the way decided they wanted a different path, and having the faculty here that can help guide you, help understand what you want to do, and how you can do it, is critical," says Cory Morton '12, MBA '13.
Tricia Marsherall '11, MBA '16 had this to say: "Absolutely take advantage of the close-knit community that St. John Fisher College is. They want to help, they want to be of service, and definitely take advantage of those networking opportunities. Put yourself out there. Take advantage of it, because you don't know where it's going to take you."
