VoiceThread is a commonly used tool in courses to create mini-lectures for students to watch outside of class at a time that is convenient for them.
For additional support using VoiceThread in your courses:
- Request a one-on-one training – If you have specific VoiceThread questions schedule an appointment for a one-on-one training session with the educational technologist.
- Review the VoiceThread documentation and tutorials (below).
VoiceThread allows for collaboration and discussion around audio and/or video content.
To access VoiceThread, students may simply click the link in a Blackboard course to watch these recordings.
Additionally, instructors may ask students to submit assignments using VoiceThread, where students are creating presentations of their own to share with the instructor and/or class. Commenting on these recordings may also be a requirement for these activities.
Compared to other text-based options like traditional paper assignments or online discussion boards, VoiceThread provides a way to facilitate the sharing of information and encourages conversation in an asynchronous manner through audio and/or video communication that may feel more personal than a strictly text-based conversation.
