TEACH Certification Pathways and Program Codes

Use the following pathways and program codes while completing your TEACH Certification Application. See the TEACH Certification Application Instructions for detailed guidance through the certification process. 

Certification Codes by Program Completed

Apply for the certifications listed below based on the program you completed. 

First Certification

If you are applying for your first certification, select "Approved Teacher Preparation Program Pathway."

Additional Certifications

If applying for additional certifications, select "Approved Teacher Preparation Program: Additional Certificate Pathway." Additional certifications will appear in TEACH as pending until the first certification is issued.

*Professional certification will be issued after the following criteria have been met:

  • Three years of administration/classroom teaching experience
Initial to Professional

Initial to Professional

Convert Initial Certification to Professional Certification in TEACH:

  • Select Pathway: Certificate Progression and provide the required information
  • For the program code Select: No (you do not use a program code for this pathway because the Master’s degree is in a different area)

Verification from employer of three years of teaching experience or 540 days of teaching experience in the grade level (example 1-6, B-6, or 7-12) is required for initial certifications to become professional certifications.
