Laurie Valentino has over 15 years of experience within higher education and career development advising experience. Graduating from SUNY Geneseo with a B.A. in interpersonal communication, Laurie continued her education at St. John Fisher College, earning her M.S. in human resource development.

Prior to coming to Fisher, Ms. Valentino worked within human resources roles at Wegmans Food Markets and Paychex. She began her higher education career at the University of Rochester and came to Fisher in 2006 as the assistant director of the Career Center where she worked directly with students, managed the accounting recruiting program, served as a freshman advisor, and took the lead role in implementing the first recruiting and job posting database on campus.

When Ms. Valentino moved to the School of Business in fall 2012, she oversaw accounting and finance internships. In fall 2014, she began her position as internship coordinator, managing the internship program for all five undergraduate majors in the School of Business. Ms. Valentino has designed the internship program to directly align with School of Business learning objectives, enabling students to demonstrate professional competencies and be career-ready upon completion of their internship semester. Additionally, Ms. Valentino corresponds directly with the business community to ensure the internship program provides the support and learning experience that matches competencies sought in the professional workplace.

In addition to her internship coordinator responsibilities, Ms. Valentino created and taught the career planning courses in finance and management, created and teaches MGMT 100 - Introduction to Business Majors and Careers, is the SHRM faculty co-advisor, and serves as the School of Business representative for the College-wide Internship Council.
