From the Registrar’s Office
On behalf of everyone in the St. John Fisher College Registrar’s Office, welcome to Fisher! We hope you will find your transition to college to be a smooth one. There is a lot to know, and many details to cover, and we are here to help you every step of the way.
Is your health insurance provider looking for verification that your student is a full-time student? Are they applying for a student credit card? Does their current employer want proof of their enrollment? Do they have a scholarship that may require verification that they are a matriculated student?
If you answered “yes” to those questions, then read on! The Registrar’s Office has made it easy for your student to obtain enrollment verification certificates through the National Student Clearinghouse’s web-based Student Self-Service program. Certificates can be printed, at no charge, through the mysjfc.edu portal. Currently, you would choose the Advanced Enrollment Certificate, once classes start, the student would choose Enrollment Certificate. Because of this user-friendly and secure system, the College no longer provides these verifications. Your student will need their Fisher ID number and pin number. Instructions on printing an enrollment verification can be found on the Registrar’s website.
And switching gears, if your student’s loan company has mailed them loan deferment paperwork, please have your student scan the paperwork and send to the Registrar’s Office at firstname.lastname@example.org. The office will send the forms directly to the National Student Clearinghouse. All forms need to be completed and the borrower’s signature is required.
Students can view all third-party notifications of their enrollment by logging into their Fisher account and following the instructions for enrollment verification. There will be an option to view the student loan deferment notifications as well as view the enrollment information on file.
The College offers full-time students the opportunity to take a class covered under their tuition at participating institutions during the fall and/or spring semesters. If interested, students can contact the Registrar’s Office for the registration form and additional information.
Accessing Fish ‘R’ Net
Fish ‘R’ Net can be accessed by vising http://fishrnet.sjfc.edu/.
A reminder for your student: Choose Enter Secure Area and enter your Fisher ID (include the @ sign) and PIN. Your first PIN is your date of birth in six-digit form (MMDDYY). When you access Fish ‘R’ Net for the first time, use the Change PIN option to create a PIN containing numbers and letters that will be known only to you. **If your student attended Great Beginnings, it is very likely they changed their pin at that time.**
The first time you log in, you will see the Terms of Usage statement. By clicking “Continue,” you acknowledge your understanding and agreement to comply with the terms of usage.
If you see this message, “Authorization Failure Invalid User ID or Pin,” please hit the “Forgot PIN” option and follow the specific instructions. If you try too many times with the wrong information, the system will direct you to call the Registrar’s Office, and we will unlock the account. This will allow you to try logging into the system with the correct information. We do not set your PIN back to your date of birth.
Throughout the summer, AP credit is processed and student records are updated. An email is sent to the student’s Fisher email account indicating if they received credit or if no credit was given.
Transfer Credit from Other Institutions (Taken during High School or Summer Courses)
Starting Wednesday, Aug. 7, the Registrar’s Office will begin the review of all incoming freshman academic folders. At that time, we will post any transfer credits earned by the student. Once posted, an email is sent to the student indicating that a change has been made to their record. The folders are done alphabetically and if all academic transcripts have been submitted to the College, your students’ folder review will be completed by Nov. 1.
