Deacon Mannara, C.S.B. to be Ordained to Priesthood

Next month, Deacon Kevin Mannara, C.S.B., director of campus ministry at St. John Fisher College, will be ordained to priesthood during a liturgy beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, at Saint Mary’s Church (15 Saint Mary’s Place). Mannara is a member of the Congregation of St. Basil, the founding order of the College.
During the ordination rite, the laying on of hands and invocation of the Holy Spirit will be delivered by The Most Reverend Ronald P. Fabbro, C.S.B.
On Sunday, Aug. 6, the campus community is invited to celebrate with him at the Mass of Thanksgiving, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Saint Mary’s Church. A reception will follow.
Guests at either event are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item for the parish’s Blessed Sacrament Supper Program.
A native of Rochester, Mannara is a graduate of the Aquinas Institute and Niagara University. He also holds a doctor of ministry degree from the Catholic Theological Union, where he was a Bernardin scholar, and a master of divinity degree from St. Bernard’s School of Theology and Ministry in Rochester.
After a career in secondary education, he served in lay ecclesial ministry before pursuing ordained ministry. His doctoral research included how places of worship are designed and he is the author of the book, That All May Be One: Consolidating Church Buildings When Parishes Merge, and several journal articles.
