Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter Named Teddi Dance for Love Honorary Chair

January 31, 2022

St. John Fisher College students planning the 2022 Teddi Dance for Love have a community advocate in their corner as they prepare for the event’s 40th anniversary. Monroe County Sheriff Todd Baxter will serve as honorary chair of the 24-hour dance-a-thon to benefit Camp Good Days and Special Times. The dance will be held from 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18 through 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19.

Sheriff Todd Baxter and Undersheriff Korey Brown

The committee and Camp Good Days selected Baxter in recognition of his involvement in community activities, including a 35-year career in law enforcement and work with the Veterans Outreach Center. He has been a longtime friend and supporter of Camp, and has become a regular attendee of the Dance’s kick-off Very Beary Brunch.

“It’s my personal privilege to serve as this year’s honorary chair for such a meaningful event as we celebrate 40 years of dancing in the name of children with cancer and the exceptional efforts of Camp Good Days and Special Times to improve the quality of life for these kids and their families,” said Baxter.  “Let’s put on our dancing shoes and dance the night away in support of all of the programs and events this wonderful agency provides to help kids with cancer be kids.”

As honorary chair, Baxter will help the Teddi Committee celebrate the week leading up to the dance, serving as a co-host of the Very Beary Brunch on Friday, Feb. 11. As students celebrate four decades of dancing, the Teddi Dance will return to an in-person event in the College’s Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Athletic Center Fieldhouse. Undersheriff Korey Brown will be in attendance representing Sheriff Baxter to help kick-off the dance and encourage students as they dance for love. Teddi Committee Chair Liliana Rucci ’22 and Vice Chair Alyssa Klonowski ’23 are thrilled to have two strong ambassadors for the dance.

“We are honored to have Sheriff Baxter as our Honorary Chair and to welcome Undersheriff Brown to Teddi,” said Rucci. “This is a very special year for the dance and it’s fitting to have two enthusiastic community members in our corner, cheering us on.”
