Sharon Napier ’81 Honored with 2018 Athena Award

St. John Fisher College alumna Sharon Napier ’81, chief executive officer of Partners + Napier, was presented with the 2018 ATHENA Award, given by the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce and its Women’s Council affiliate. The award honors a professional female leader who has demonstrated significant achievements in business, community service, and the professional advancement of women.
Napier was formally presented with the award during the 32nd Annual Athena International Awards ceremony, held on Thursday, Jan. 25.
Napier established Partners + Napier, a full-service marketing and advertising agency, in 2004. With offices in Rochester, New York City, and San Francisco, the agency has developed specialization in brand strategy, advertising, digital marketing, shopper marketing, and content creation for clients including BMW Financial Services, Constellation Brands, Delta Private Jets, The Players’ Tribune, ConAgra Foods, Keurig Green Mountain, and Capital One. In 2013, she was named one of the “100 Most Influential Women in Advertising” by Advertising Age.
An active member of the Fisher community, she has delivered numerous talks to students and young alumni about women in leadership and was a 2014 recipient of the Dean’s Medal for Outstanding Service at the School of Business. In addition, she served as a panelist at the 2017 Alumnae Luncheon during the College’s Alumni Weekend.
The College also saw several alumni and a current student be nominated for the 2018 awards.
Cindy Becker, vice president and chief operating officer at UR Medicine Highland Hospital; Kristen Clark ’86, partner at The Bonadio Group; and Dr. Seanelle Hawkins ’13 (Ed.D.), executive director of Sojourner House at PathStone and Wilson Commencement Park, were named finalists for the ATHENA Award.
Current doctoral candidate Sharitta Gross-Smith ’18 (Ed.D.), assistant director of student development for the Multicultural Center for Academic Success at the Rochester Institute of Technology, was a finalist for the 2018 ATHENA Young Professionals Award.
