All-College Choir Holds Inaugural Concert
The All-College Choir at St. John Fisher College held its inaugural concert on Sunday, April 22, at the Hermance Family Chapel of St. Basil the Great.
The newly formed choir, which includes students, faculty, staff, and friends of the College, was created in the rich tradition of a glee club. A non-audition ensemble, the choir is directed by Sarah Mancini-Goebert, liturgy and music coordinator and office manager for the Office of Campus Ministry.
The concert brought out nearly 50 people, who enjoyed the choir’s performance of Gabriel Fauŕe’s Requiem and a selection of other pieces. Drastic Measures, the College’s a cappella group, also performed a portion of their spring semester repertoire.
“The concert was beautiful. There is so much talent in the Fisher family, it was a wonderful to be able to showcase that talent in another venue,” said Mancini-Goebert. “We look forward to the fall where we will present Lessons and Carols during Advent.”
Members of the choir include sopranos Hannah Batten, Joanne Dennstedt, Rachel Claire Lockhart, Hillarie McIntosh, Maria Nevarez, Erin Ontiveros, and Tiffany Weil; altos Emily Risch and Maya Temperley (rehearsal pianist); tenors Eric Green, Clair Smith, and Michael Valicenti, and basses Todd Cucchiara, Tom Grout, and Jayce Seeley. Dr. Chiao-Wen Cheng provided piano accompaniment during the concert.
Rehearsals for the 2018-2019 choir will begin in September and are open to the campus community.
