On Wednesday, April 5, a multitude of St. John Fisher College student-athletes participated in “The Giant Read,” an annual community service project that Fisher has been involved with for six years.

The “Giant Read” is part of the READ: Hope in Action Program, which connects athletics from Rochester area colleges and universities with elementary school students in an effort to promote literacy in the Rochester City School District. Fisher’s Giant Read participation is organized by Fisher’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

This year, 27 Cardinals from eight different teams went to the Wilson Foundation Academy to participate in the event. The players read a multitude of different short stories, including Bear Says Thanks and Who Was Muhammed Ali.

After reading, the student-athletes took time to color and work on other writing assignments with the children.
