Schlosser Publishes Two Papers in Education Journals
Dr. Linda Schlosser, an associate professor in the Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education, published the article, “A simple equation: Math clubs increase math practice,” in the winter issue of the New York State Middle School Journal, In Transition
The article focuses on progress made with the ongoing Rochester City School District middle school math clubs and corresponding teacher professional development held one Saturday per month at Fisher. The grant supporting math clubs is run collaboratively with SUNY Brockport and was just funded once again for another three-year cycle. Fisher’s 228 interdisciplinary education students are also engaged in service-learning at the middle school math clubs.
Schlosser also authored College and career readiness for middle school students with special needs, an invited submission for the upcoming May edition of Association of Middle Level Educators Magazine. The article was based on a presentation she delivered at the organization’s annual conference last November. In addition to the article, she was interviewed for a podcast which is linked to the article and posted on the Association of Middle Level Educator’s website.
