Sacco Named Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar
Wegmans School of Nursing Visiting Assistant Professor Tara Sacco was recently named a Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar by the Jonas Center for Nursing Excellence.
As a scholar in the 2016-2018 cycle—the program’s fifth cohort—Sacco will receive $10,000 in financial support for her pursuit of a doctoral degree at Villanova University. She is one of two students from Villanova to be named a scholar.
Sacco will also receive support in attending an American Association of Colleges of Nursing meeting, held in Washington, D.C., as well as leadership training and opportunities to network with nurse leaders around the country.
The scholar program, which was launched in 2008, seeks to address the nursing faculty shortage by building a coalition of advanced practice nurses that benefit from long-term mentoring, career opportunities, and an extensive, nationwide alumni network.
“I'm honored to be selected as a Jonas Nurse Leader Scholar and am looking forward to the opportunities this will afford me in the future,” said Sacco.
Sacco holds a bachelor’s in nursing from Hartwick College, a master’s in leadership of health care systems from the University of Rochester, and a post master’s certificate in advanced practice nursing from Fisher. Her research interests include nursing quality of life and healthy work environments (which is the focus of her dissertation), burn, trauma, and neuroscience nursing, adult critical care nursing, and organ donation and transplantation.
