Five Reasons to Love Alumni Weekend 2017
More than 1,000 Fisher alumni are expected to return to campus for Alumni Weekend, held this Friday, Oct. 6 through Sunday, Oct. 8. Among the dozens of events happening over the course of the three days—including a performance by The Second City—here’s five reasons to love (and attend) Alumni Weekend.
1. First Friday Lecture Series
Friday, Oct. 6, 9 a.m., Skalny Welcome Center Board Room
President Gerard J. Rooney will offer a State of the College.
2. Dedication of the Hermance Family Chapel of St. Basil the Great
Saturday, Oct. 7; 1:30 p.m.; Hermance Family Chapel of St. Basil the Great
In 1948, the Basilian Fathers envisioned a freestanding chapel in the heart of campus. Nearly 70 years later, the College will dedicate the new Hermance Family Chapel of St. Basil the Great. Join the Hermance family, Basilian Fathers, and campus community for this historic event.
3. Cardinal Football vs. Alfred University
Saturday, Oct. 7, 4 p.m., Growney Stadium
The Cardinals take on the Saxons during the annual Alumni Weekend football game. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the gate.
4. Fisher Food Truck Rodeo
Saturday, Oct. 7, 6-8:30 p.m., Parking Lot Q
Who doesn’t love food trucks? Choose from Macarollin’, Meat the Press, Eat Greek, Chef's Catering, J&S Fried Dough, and Abbott’s Frozen Custard for some eats between the game and the Saturday night headliner.
5. The Second City
Saturday, Oct. 7, 8:30 p.m., Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. Athletic Center
Bill Murray, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Jordan Peele, Jane Lynch, John Candy...all graduates of The Second City. Laugh, cry, and participate with the improv and sketch comedy group and see the next generation of great comedic talent. There’s no telling what will happen as The Second City takes over Fisher. Tickets, which can be purchased at the door, are $5 for students; $10 for alumni, faculty, and staff; and $20 for the general public.
