Kiplinger Names Fisher to “Best College Values” Ranking
St. John Fisher College was named to Kiplinger’s “300 Best College Values for 2018” ranking, which recognizes colleges and universities for academic quality and affordability. Fisher was listed at No. 297 on the full ranking, and No. 99 among private universities.
The list was published online earlier today, and will appear in the February 2018 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance, on newsstands beginning Tuesday, Jan. 9.
“We are proud to be recognized for our academic quality and affordability for the fifth consecutive year,” said Dr. Gerard J. Rooney, president of the College. “A Fisher education provides transformative experiences for our students, and we remain steadfast in our commitment to keeping Fisher affordable. I am proud that our efforts have led to our inclusion on this list, which is confirmation that we are achieving our goal of making Fisher accessible to those who will most benefit from earning a Fisher degree.”
Methodology for the list includes weighing data from nearly 1,200 public and private four-year schools, provided by Peterson’s. The list is then narrowed to the top schools based on measures of academic quality, including SAT or ACT scores, admission and retention rates, student-faculty ratios, and four-year graduation rates. The editors then rank the schools using cost and financial aid measures. Academic quality carries more weight than costs.
