#FisherExperts Share Analysis of Presidential Election
This fall, faculty members at St. John Fisher College have offered insights and expertise into the 2016 Presidential Election, and will continue to do so throughout the week.
On Tuesday—Election Day —beginning at 8 p.m., radio and television programs on WXXI will feature Dr. Wes Renfro, who will offer real-time analysis throughout the night.
Wednesday morning, Dr. Kathleen Donovan will provide commentary from 5:30 to 7 a.m. on WROC-TV News 8 and during that same timeslot, Dr. Sebastian Lazardeux will join anchors from News 10 NBC to offer post-election analysis as well.
Prior to the election, several political scientists and media experts lent their expertise to stories around the election.
Earlier this month, Tom Proietti, Resident Scholar in Media, spoke with News 10 NBC about Facebook’s new “Create My Voting Plan” tool.
Donovan’s Campaigns and Elections course, which included a service-learning component, caught the attention of Dick Moss, news editor at the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. Moss observed one of Donovan’s classes, and wrote a column on the course. Next Avenue, a national news organization tailored to the 50+ population, also wrote an article about the course.
On Thursday, Oct. 27, Renfro and several of his were featured on WXXI’s Need to Know television program, exploring the opportunities and challenges of teaching about this year’s national presidential election. Students spoke about their classroom experiences and take-a-ways from Renfro’s class.
