An expert on the Bush family, Renfro has served as a guest analyst for television and radio newscasts, and frequently gives interviews to print publications. He was recently consulted to comment on a foreign policy address given by the former Florida Governor, Jeb Bush, in articles by Al-Jazeera America and Bloomberg.

Renfro is a co-author of a forthcoming book on international relations in the Middle East, and he has authored another nine peer reviewed articles/chapters that have appeared in a variety of outlets, including International Studies Perspectives, Oxford Bibliographies, Historia Actual, Psicologia Politica, and The American Election 2012: Contexts and Consequences.

He is a former board member and president of the International Studies Association Midwest, and currently serves as a board member for the International Studies Association LGBTQA Caucus.
