Bio

Rockell draws on her lengthy career in the state and local criminal justice system to offer commentary on the various aspects of the criminal justice system, including parole, sentencing, and jails/prison. She can also discuss related topics, including women and crime, the media and crime, and the death penalty.

She is retired from the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, the Commission of Correction, and the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. As a professional in the field, Rockell conducted special investigations into riots and incidents in prisons and jails. She also handled crime-related correspondence to then-Governor, Mario Cuomo.

Her scholarly achievements include five articles focused on women offenders, jails, criminal justice education, and rural crime, and the book, Women Street Hustlers.
