Women and Gender Studies
Enrich your understanding of women’s contributions to society with a minor in women and gender studies at St. John Fisher College.
The program examines the relationship between gender and power from a variety of perspectives–social, artistic, historical, and scientific. You will investigate how gender has affected the lives of men and women all over the world and throughout human history.
The women and gender studies minor will serve you well if you are planning a career in any of the following fields:
- International relations
- Health professions
- Social and community service
The women and gender studies program is organized around feminist research, methods, and theory, integrating personal, academic, and policy issues into all topics of inquiry.
The minor consist of six courses from a variety of academic disciplines: one introduction course, one course in feminist and/or gender theory, one course in intersectional perspectives, and three electives.
The program is designed to complement careers in law, business, media, politics, international relations, science, health professions, social and community service, and education.
