Clinical Experiences and Student Teaching

Two important components of Fisher's inclusive education program are clinical experiences and student teaching. Both opportunities give you invaluable experience in a classroom setting and help you develop the confidence and abilities needed to become an effective educator.

Clinical Experiences

Gain skills and confidence in the classroom through student teaching and clinical experiences.

Gain skills and confidence in the classroom through student teaching and clinical experiences.

Clinical experiences provide you with opportunities to explore and reflect on your content, professional, and pedagogical knowledge and skills in a variety of classroom settings, in order to best evaluate your impact on student learning. You will have opportunities to work with students from diverse backgrounds in a range of grade levels, putting theory learned as part of your coursework into practice in the classroom.

Student Teaching

Student teaching is a culminating clinical experience of the program. The purpose of student teaching is to provide an opportunity for you to apply and demonstrate your knowledge, skills, and dispositions in the classroom. You will be expected to demonstrate:

  • Proficiencies that support learning by all students
  • Skills for working with colleagues, parents and families, and communities
  • Use of technology and information literacy to support instruction and learning
