Date: September 23, 2018 - September 23, 2018
Time: 5 p.m. - 8 p.m.
Location: Cleary Family Auditorium, Kearney Hall
A second chance screening of the documentary “Happy” will take place at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23, in Cleary Family Auditorium.
The film takes viewers on a “journey from the swamps of Louisiana to the slums of Kolkata in search of what really makes people happy.”
The film screening is part of a new series of events called the Resilience Initiative, aimed at promoting wellbeing on campus. The yearlong project will feature a series of moderated panel discussions and “toolkit building” opportunities that promote resiliency, and in turn, help students, faculty, staff, manage stress and upset, while also promoting wellbeing.
Future sessions will be from 3 to 5 p.m. in Nursing 100 on Sunday, Oct. 21, Sunday, Nov. 11, Sunday, Jan. 20, Sunday, Feb. 1, and Sunday, March 31. Topics that will be discussed include trauma sensitive responsiveness in the classroom, community, and with children; happiness and well-being; healthy relationships; and mindfulness.
“We hope to have faculty and student engagement in these events across the year and welcome more individuals to help in the creation and facilitation of building a more compassionate and resilient campus,” said Dr. Melissa Ghera, who helped spearhead the project.
The events are sponsored by the School of Arts and Sciences, Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education, School of Business, Wegmans School of Nursing, Wegmans School of Pharmacy, Health and Wellness Center, Center for Career and Academic Planning, and the Office of Campus Life.
