Modern Languages and Cultures Scholarship

Each year, St. John Fisher College offers two Modern Languages and Cultures Scholarships to high school seniors to recognize achievement in foreign language as sound preparation for college work.

Scholarship recipients will receive $3,000 annually, over four years, if they maintain a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA and complete a minor within the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures.

Scholarship Criteria

These scholarships are available to all high school seniors with proficiency in Spanish.

Students of all majors are eligible for this scholarship, with priority given to those majoring in a foreign language (Fisher offers a major in Spanish).

Candidates must be nominated by a foreign language teacher or counselor and demonstrate:

  • Excellence in scholarship, character, leadership, and service
  • Communicative ability in the language with complete speech utterances beyond the present tense

Regular admission standards typically include a high school GPA of B/B+ and a strong high school curriculum.
