About Middle States Accreditation

As a regional accrediting body, MSCHE examines each of its member institutions every five years through periodic reviews and evaluations to promote high quality practices and ensure compliance with its standards. As its mission states, MSCHE “is a voluntary, non-governmental, membership association that is dedicated to quality assurance and improvement through accreditation via peer evaluation. Middle States accreditation instills public confidence in institutional mission, goals, performance, and resources through its rigorous accreditation standards and their enforcement.” Fisher received its initial accreditation from Middle States in 1957.

Maintaining Middle States accreditation demonstrates an institutional commitment to educational and operational excellence. St. John Fisher College engaged in a self-study process in the 2014-2015 academic year and had a Middle States decennial visit in spring 2016.
