Students, Faculty and Staff Make Strides Against Breast Cancer
10/05/2011
The rain didn't keep 58 St. John Fisher College faculty, staff, and students from participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk this past Sunday, October 2, in downtown Rochester. The annual walk attracted thousands to raise money to support cancer research, free mammograms for those needing assistance, and transportation and lodging for those undergoing treatment. The Fisher team beat both their team recruitment goal and their fundraising goal, raising a total of $2,755 for the cause.
The American Cancer Society estimated that nearly 9,000 people turned out for the walk, and that $805,000 was raised in Rochester. Donations are used toward the fight against cancer through research, survivor support, and education.
