Campus Climate Study
To the Fisher Community:
Last Spring, the Campus Diversity Advisory Board recommended that the College conduct a climate study. I accepted the Board's recommendation and subsequently charged the Climate Study Steering Committee with implementation of this project.
I am pleased to announce that the College will undertake a campus climate study to gather information from students, faculty and staff about their attitudes and perceptions regarding the campus community. This climate study is intended to help identify issues that the College can address in order to enhance the experience and success of all its members. It reflects the growing effort by the College to augment decision-making processes with more information and input from the entire campus community.
The Steering Committee's strategic plan for the climate study, prepared during the summer, addresses all aspects of the climate study. I hope that you will take the time to read the Strategic Plan for the Campus Climate Study so that you will be more familiar with what a climate study is, what it is intended to do, and how you might participate in the process.
The climate study will involve a series of focus groups during the fall semester and a campus-wide survey will be administered during the spring semester. Your participation in the focus groups and in completing the subsequent survey is critical to the success of the program.
Results of the climate study will be reviewed and disseminated by the Steering Committee. Opportunities for improvement will be identified and related recommendations for actions will be shared with the Senior Administration.
If you have questions or wish more information about this initiative, you may contact Dr. Rick DeJesús-Rueff, Vice President for Student Affairs & Diversity Initiatives or Dr. Bruce Blaine, Professor of Psychology. They are serving as the co-chairs for the Climate Study Steering Committee.
Thank you for your time and your participation in this important campus initiative.
With best wishes, please accept my
