About Us Character. An independent, liberal arts institution in the Catholic tradition of American higher education. History. Founded in 1948 by the Congregation of St. Basil as a Catholic College for men. St. John Fisher College became coeducational in 1971 and continues to honor its Catholic and Basilian heritage. Academics. 30 majors in the humanities, social sciences, sciences, business, and nursing; 10 pre-professional programs; 11 master's program 2 doctoral programs. Athletics. The College is a Division III member of the NCAA, the Eastern College Athletic Conference, the New York State Women’s Collegiate Athletic Association, and the Empire 8. Activities. Students may choose from a wide range of campus clubs and organizations, including student government, music groups, language clubs, cultural organizations, student publications, and intramural sports. Many academic departments also sponsor clubs. Tuition. For 2007-2008, annual tuition for full-time undergraduate students is $21,670. Room and board costs are $9,410 per year. Part-time undergraduate tuition is $588 per credit hour. Financial Aid. Nearly 95% of first-year students receive some form of financial assistance. The average offer to incoming students is $16,000.
