Admissions Pre-Professional Course RequirementsAdmission to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree program requires the equivalent of two years, or 62 semester hours, of pre-professional education at an accredited college or university. Application may be made after completion of 30 semester hours of college coursework. Minimum specific prerequisite course requirements are: General Course Requirements (24 semester hours):
Science and Math (38 semester hours):
Grades below "C" cannot be accepted toward completion of these requirements. Minimum cumulative and science grade point averages of 2.75 are required to be considered for admission. All science courses (chemistry, biology, physics) must include a laboratory with each lecture. Advanced placement courses are not accepted for science courses. All pre-professional course work must be completed prior to matriculation into the School of Pharmacy. GPA:Minimum cumulative and science grade point averages of 2.75 are required to be considered for admission. It should be noted that most students accepted to the program have performed at a much higher level. PCAT:The Pharmacy College Admissions Aptitude test assesses one’s skills necessary to complete the doctor of pharmacy curriculum. Students must arrange for Harcourt Assessment to send their PCAT scores directly to PharmCAS. The reporting code is 104. Application Process
Submit an online application to PharmCAS (Pharmacy College Application Service), a centralized application service that offers the convenience of one general application for multiple doctor of pharmacy degree programs. Applications must be received by PharmCAS no later than February 1, 2010. Applicants are encouraged to complete the application process early. Incomplete applications will not be processed by PharmCAS or WSOP.
Supplemental Application Requirement – to be completed after September 1stOnce applicants have completed the PharmCAS application process, they must submit a supplemental application and $30 fee directly to WSOP. The Supplemental Application will be available September – March. Applications will not be considered until the supplemental application and fee have been received. The Supplemental Application materials must be submitted to WSOP by March 1. Complete applications for admission to the Wegmans School of Pharmacy will be processed upon receipt. The Admissions Committee will identify and invite the most qualified candidates to campus for an interview. Interview will be conducted on a rolling basis. The Admissions Committee will notify applicants of a decision on a rolling basis. Early completion of the application process is recommended. Special Instructions for International Applicants/Foreign TranscriptsWSOP requires TOEFL scores for non-native English speaking applicants. The minimum acceptable score on the TOEFL is 575 (paper-based), 233 (computer-based), or 80 (internet-based). Foreign transcripts must be sent to an evaluation service for a course-by course report. Criminal Background Check RequirementsStudents accepted to the Wegmans School of Pharmacy are subject to criminal background checks. All accepted students are required to complete this procedure prior to matriculation into the Wegmans School of Pharmacy. It is the students responsibility to assume expenses related to this requirement. Students must follow procedures for completing a criminal background check as instructed by the Wegmans School of Pharmacy.
