Senior Sport Management Students Present Capstone Project to Local Professionals

On Thursday, December 17, a group of 12 senior sport management majors will present to local sports professionals as part of their capstone project in Policy in Sport. Nominations Sought for Jennifer Koon Courage Awards

The Jennifer Koon Peacemaking Foundation at St. John Fisher College has issued a call for nominations for this year's Jennifer Koon Courage Awards. Two awards are given annually: one to a Fisher student, and the other to a member of the Rochester community. Nominations are due no later than Friday, January 22. Recipients are those who are committed to peacemaking and strive to make the world a better and more peaceful place. Read More

St. John Fisher College Collects 6,959 Books for Liberia

In November, St. John Fisher College collected 6,959 books for the ONE Campaign. The books will be donated to the Liberian Literacy Foundation, which ships books to Liberia to give to children and the literacy center. The book drive was part of the ONE Campus Challenge, in which St. John Fisher College competes on an ongoing basis. Read More

Kollar Authors Defending Religious Diversity in Public Schools

Professor Emeritus Nathan Kollar, Department of Religious Studies, has written a book titled Defending Religious Diversity in Public Schools: A Practical Guide for Building Our Democracy and Deepening Our Education. The book, released in July 2009, is published by Greenwood Publishing Group. Kollar's book shows how and why public schools should prepare to understand and deal with religious diversity in the United States and world. Read More

Nominations Sought for Mary Ellen Milne Student Employee of the Year Award

Nominations are being accepted for the Mary Ellen Milne Student Employee of the Year Award. To be eligible, students must be employed in a position at St. John Fisher College for a period of two consecutive semesters. Faculty and staff are encouraged to carefully consider the students, both work-study and non-work-study, that they work with. A completed nomination form must be submitted by Friday, January 23. Wegmans School of Pharmacy Fills 95 Boxes of Supplies for Operation Christmas Child

In November, the Wegmans School of Pharmacy's student chapter of Christian Pharmacist Fellowship International (CPFI) assembled and shipped 95 shoeboxes full of gifts for children throughout the world. Faculty/Staff Holiday Project Donation Deadline is December 5

This year, St. John Fisher College has partnered with John Williams School No. 5 to provide some holiday cheer for the school's 85 third-graders. To complete this holiday project, the College has asked each faculty/staff member to purchase the five following items (one of each): markers/crayons; coloring book; gloves/mittens; puzzles; and a book. The items will be used to fill a stocking for each of the third-graders. Read More
