Douglas Llewellyn, part-time faculty member for the graduate programs in Mathematics/Science/Technology Education (GMST) and Educational Leadership, had his fourth book published by Corwin Press (Thousand Oaks, CA). His latest book, Differentiated Science Inquiry, offers instructional methods for determining when and how to provide upper elementary, middle, and high school students with more choice - thereby increasing their ownership and motivation.

On Friday, November 5, Dr. David Martin, Dean, Bittner School of Business at St. John Fisher College, will serve as the First Friday Lecture Series’ second speaker. His presentation is entitled “The Necessity of Changing the Academy.” The lecture will take place in the Joseph S. Skalny Welcome Center at 10:00 a.m.

Beginning Monday, November 1, St. John Fisher College’s Lavery Library will be home to the Inside Out Artistry exhibit, in the lower level gallery of the library. Inside Out Artistry is a collaboration among Community Arts Connection (CAC), Continuing Developmental Services (CDS) Photo Club, and pARTners Art Mentoring Program - three programs that encourage people with developmental disabilities to express themselves through art.

St. John Fisher College will celebrate its 8th Annual Philosophy Day events on Wednesday, November 17 and Thursday, November 18. “Ethics Across the Curriculum” will be held in the Golisano Gateway Midlevel on campus, and includes sessions that involve all five of the College’s schools (Arts and Sciences, Business Education, Nursing, and Pharmacy) for the first time.

On Friday, October 22, Dr. Bain served as Honorary Co-Chair of the 100th Anniversary Gala for the Boy Scouts of America, Seneca Waterways Council, held at Locust Hill Country Club. Dr. Bain gave brief remarks to the attendees, stressing the distinction between values and virtues as they relate to Scouting.

St. John Fisher College’s Communication/Journalism Department held a grand opening event for its highly anticipated high-definition (HD) television studio on Monday, October 25. Media Center director Cecil Felton, Department Chair Dr. Jack Rosenberry, and President Dr. Donald Bain cut through three strands of old videotape, symbolically cutting the College’s ties with the past television broadcasting world.
