The Ralph C. Wilson, Jr. School of Education at St. John Fisher College recently received a $20,000 grant from the First Niagara Bank Foundation to establish an After-School Literacy Mentorship Program at two Rochester-area schools.

Dr. Diane Mick, associate professor in the Wegmans School of Nursing, has been invited to represent the American Association of Critical Care Nurses Certification Corporation on national expert consensus panels hosted by the American Association of Colleges and Nursing (AACN) over the next year.

The Italian Women’s Civic Club (IWCC) recently selected four St. John Fisher College students as scholarship recipients. This year’s Dante Scholarship recipients include Dina Bartlett, Marissa Canori, and Morgan Martin. Graduate student Meggan Blanchard received the Philip J. San Filippo Memorial Scholarship. An awards dinner was held on November 6 at Midvale Country Club.

On Friday, November 5, 55 St. John Fisher College student athletes participated in the Giant Read, a signature event of the READ: Hope in Action program created by Rochester Institute of Technology. More than 400 student athletes and library staff from seven area colleges and universities simultaneously visited seven Rochester city elementary schools to read to first grade students.

On Tuesday, November 2, 73 St. John Fisher College employees were honored at the annual Service Recognition Luncheon for their years of service to the College. In total, the employees have served an astounding 780 years!

The Wellness Center will be sponsoring its 2nd seasonal flu clinic on Thursday, November 4th, from 12pm-6pm. The clinic is being held in Basil 135, and flu shots will be available to all Fisher students, faculty, staff and their families. You must be 18 years or older to receive a vaccine at the clinics. Students under 18 will need to call the Wellness Center to schedule an appointment to receive the vaccine.
