Dr. Marilyn Dollinger, Associate Dean of the Wegmans School of Nursing at St. John Fisher College, has been named the recipient of the 2009 New York State Nurses Association (NYSNA) Legislative Award. At the Rochester Business Ethics Awards Luncheon on September 22, St. John Fisher College senior Elina Katro was named the recipient of a $5,000 scholarship. Harbin Presents at Hillside Family of Agencies

Tracy Harbin, Instructor of Political Science, presented "Finding Voice in the Legislative and Policy Formation Process" at one of the Hillside agencies in Rochester on September 29. Christopher Ferrante, a Fisher alumnus who works at the agency through the Americorps Vista Program, asked if Harbin would be willing to speak about the public policy process to a group of grandmothers who are raising grandchildren. First Generation and Service Scholar Alumni Gather for Homecoming Weekend

On Saturday, September 19, more than 50 First Generation Scholars, Service Scholars, and their families and friends attended a get-together prior to the homecoming football game. At the event, all of the scholars introduced themselves, stated their hometowns and occupations, and told of their continued commitment to community service. Read More

St. John Fisher College Hosts NYSSA Conference on October 16-17

St. John Fisher College will host the 57th annual meeting of the New York State Sociological Association (NYSSA) on Friday, October 16 and Saturday, October 17. The conference, titled "Contests and Continuities," examines new forms of social conflict, novel arenas of cooperation, and the troubling persistence of long-standing social divisions. The event is free for all Fisher faculty, staff, and students. The sessions are also open to the general public, but a small donation is requested in order to attend. Read More

The newest trustees are: Carol Anthony (John) Davidson '76, Senior Vice President, Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer at Tyco International; Ronald E. Hermance, Jr. '69, Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Hudson City Bancorp, Inc.; and Elizabeth Mullin-DiProsa, President and Chief Executive Officer at St. Ann's Community. Wegmans School of Pharmacy Students Help Conduct Anti-AIDS Drug Research at Rutgers University

Over the summer, two Wegmans School of Pharmacy students were given the opportunity to participate in a summer research project at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J. The project was entitled "Enhancing Intestinal and Brain Uptake of Anti-AIDS Drugs" and was conducted in the research lab of Dr. Patrick Sinko. Read More

As recipients of the Lifetime Achievement Award, Vergo and Mangan were recognized for their distinguished careers in the accounting field, and for their commitment to and unwavering support of St. John Fisher College.
