Dotolo, MacGregor, and Bicket Present at Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society Conference

Dr. Dougie Bicket of the Communication/Journalism Department, and Dr. Frederick Dotolo and Dr. David MacGregor, both of the History Department, presented papers at the Inter-University Seminar on Armed Forces and Society Biennial International Conference in Chicago on October 23. The three professors participated as part of a panel, "Cross-Disciplinary Perspectives on British Counterinsurgency and Revolutionary Warfare," led by Dr. Dotolo. Read More

St. John Fisher College Marks "Four Freedoms Week" with Presentations, Panels, and Film Screenings

Students and faculty at St. John Fisher College will spend this week exploring the meaning of Franklin Roosevelt's historic pronouncement of four universal freedoms inhered to every global citizen—freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom of want, and freedom from fear. "Four Freedoms Week," which takes place November 2-6, is marked by both academic and service events, all of which focus on increasing understanding of Roosevelt's powerful words and their relevance in today's world. The College has scheduled speakers, panels, and film screenings that are free and open to students, faculty, staff, and the general public. Read More

Fisher Team Raises $4,038 at Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk

SGA/NRHH Golf Classic Raises $1,400 for Boys and Girls Club of Rochester

On Friday, October 23, SGA and NRHH held the first-ever SGA/NRHH Charity Golf Tournament. The event was planned in an effort to better the Rochester community, and build connections between students, faculty, and alumni. The Rochester City School District (RCSD) Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools have selected Dr. Richard DeJesús-Rueff, Vice President for Student Affairs and Diversity Initiatives at St. John Fisher College, and Nathalia Martinez '09 as award recipients. DeJesús-Rueff received the Volunteer Education Award, while Martinez was presented with the Community Service Award. Both were honored at the RCSD's Hispanic Heritage Celebration on October 22. "It's Witchcraft" Presented for Halloween at St. John Fisher College

In celebration of Halloween, St. John Fisher College hosted "It's Witchcraft: The Legends and Realities of Witches," on Thursday, October 29 and Friday, October 30. Sponsored by the Health Humanities Committee of St. John Fisher College, the event was a multidisciplinary examination of the continuing relevance of understanding the connection of witchcraft to contemporary medical issues. Dr. Geoff Megargee to Speak at Fisher, Nazareth, and U of R

Dr. Geoff Megargee, Applied Research Scholar at the Center for Advanced Holocaust Studies with the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., will visit Rochester on Tuesday, October 27 and Wednesday, October 28 to speak at Rochester-area colleges.
