Mental Health Counseling divider School of Nursing

The MS Mental Health Counseling program focuses exclusively on the training of mental health counselors. Within the program, students can specialize in working with adults and/or children. The program is designed to prepare students for work in community agencies, clinics, hospitals, managed behavioral healthcare organizations, outpatient mental health programs, residential treatment and rehabilitation settings, employee assistance programs, substance abuse treatment programs, colleges, and private practice.

Mental Health Counseling Program Highlights:

  • This program is registered with the New York State Education Department and fully meets the educational requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor
  • All full time faculty are licensed mental health counselors (LMCH) In NY State
  • State-of-the-art counselor training facilities are utilized in the program
  • Clinical internship placements are in a wide range of settings in the community, offering students the opportunity to implement the knowledge and skills gained in classroom learning in a “live” counseling setting
