Health Insurance Information

Wellness Center Fees and Insurance Information

All students who pay the Wellness Center fee are eligible to use the services of the Wellness Center.

Starting August 22, 2011, there will be a charge for office visits* with the Wellness Center’s licensed medical health care providers. How much will it cost? Find your category below (UG/Grad/Pharmacy; full-time or part-time; with or without health insurance).

*For 2011-12, there will be no charge for mental health services provided by our licensed mental health counselors or for chiropractic services provided by the NY Chiropractic College.

Students WITH Health Insurance

  • Full-time undergraduate students
  • Pharmacy P1-P3 students
  • The Wellness Center fee charged each year covers the required co-payment for each visit to the Wellness Center.
  • The Wellness Center will accept all health insurance plans and will bill the student’s health insurance carrier directly for services that are covered by the plan.
  • Part-time undergraduate students
  • Pharmacy P4 students
  • Graduate students
  • These students are currently not billed the Wellness Center fee of $75/semester.
  • As of August 22, 2011, they will be billed $75 for each semester in which they receive care from the Wellness Center’s professional staff (licensed medical health care providers, licensed mental health counselors, chiropractic services).
  • This fee will cover the required co-payment for each visit to the Wellness Center.
  • The Wellness Center will accept all health insurance plans and will bill the student’s health insurance carrier directly for services that are covered by the plan.
  • Part-time undergraduate students
  • Pharmacy P4 students
  • Graduate students

...with health insurance for whom paying the $75 Wellness Center fee presents a severe financial hardship.

  • If students are unable to pay the Wellness Center fee, they may declare they have medical hardship status.
  • Medical hardship status is granted on a case-by-case basis.
  • Students must complete the “Declaration of Medical Hardship Status” form, found on the Wellness Center website, under “Insurance.”

Students WITHOUT Health Insurance

  • Full-time undergraduate students
  • Pharmacy P1-P3 students
  • The Wellness Center fee charged each year covers the required co-payment for each visit to the Wellness Center.
  • Because these students do not have health insurance coverage, they will be charged $25 for each medical visit to the Wellness Center. The College will bill students for such medical health care visits.
  • Part-time undergraduate students
  • Pharmacy P4 students
  • Graduate students
  • These students are currently not billed the Wellness Center fee of $75/semester.
  • As of August 22, 2011, they will be billed $75 for each semester in which they receive care from the Wellness Center’s professional staff (licensed medical health care providers, licensed mental health counselors, chiropractic services).

Don’t forget your St. John Fisher College ID card and health insurance card!

If you have health insurance, you will need to bring your Fisher ID card and health insurance card for each visit to the Wellness Center. Doing so will ensure that we have the correct information to bill your insurance company for our fees.

What is the student accident and sickness insurance plan?

The College makes available through the Allen .J Flood Companies, Inc., an affordable student health insurance plan with basic health care coverage (see below). Coverage becomes effective on August 1, 2011. Under this plan, no deductibles are assessed for services provided at the Wellness Center. To learn more, visit the insurance company website.


Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan

If you do not have health insurance, St. John Fisher College has an established relationship with The Allen J. Flood Companies to provide an Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan. The plan coverage runs from January 1, 2012 through July 31, 2012. The cost of the plan is $315. When you sign up for coverage, your student account will be charged the $315 in the spring semester. To enroll in the Student Accident and Sickness Insurance Plan, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to Fish 'R' Net and enter secure area.
  2. Select "Student Services & Financial Aid"
  3. Select "Registration"
  4. Select "Insurance Enrollment"
  5. Click "Enroll"
  6. A confirmation page will appear
